A golf cart battery is a deep-cycle power battery built to release energy steadily over long rounds, while a car battery delivers one short burst to start an engine. Repeated deep discharge would quickly ruin a starting battery, so carts need thick-plate cycling cells.

What does RC (reserve capacity) mean on golf cart batteries?

Reserve capacity is the number of minutes a battery keeps supplying a fixed current after a charge loss. Ratings at 25A and 75A show how long the cart keeps moving under light and heavy loads, which helps you match batteries to course length and terrain.

Why are dry weight and filled weight listed separately?

These batteries ship dry-charged without electrolyte, so the dry figure covers the plates and case only. Once acid is filled and the battery is activated, the with-acid weight applies. Both values matter for payload planning and installation handling.

How should I charge golf cart batteries after each round?

Recharge the pack fully as soon as possible after every use, and avoid leaving carts parked at low charge. Charge in a ventilated area, let batteries cool before the next round and never store the pack in a discharged state for long periods.

How long does a set of golf cart batteries last?

Service life depends on discharge depth, charging habits, terrain and climate. Carts cycled gently with prompt recharging typically achieve far more rounds than packs run to empty daily. Checking water levels and terminal tightness extends life further.
