AGM MF Motorcycle Batteries

Designed for extreme conditions, the Western Electrical AGM MF (Maintenance-Free) motorcycle battery series delivers maximum power over extended periods with no loss in performance. Thanks to specialized construction, these batteries are spill-proof and leak-proof up to 45° after activation, with excellent resistance to vibration and deep cycling.

These batteries are shipped in a dry-charged, unfilled state with a separate acid pack to ensure peak power retention. Once the acid is properly added, the fiberglass mat completely absorbs it, making the battery virtually spill-proof and leak-proof. After activation, these batteries require no refilling and remain maintenance-free for the entire battery life.

This AGM MF motorcycle battery series is suited for motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles, quad bikes, watercraft, and jet skis - as well as other sports and recreational vehicles.

What is an AGM MF motorcycle battery and what does MF mean?

MF stands for Maintenance-Free. An AGM MF motorcycle battery uses the same absorbent glass mat technology as its SMF counterpart but ships dry, with the acid supplied in a separate pack. Once the electrolyte is filled in and the initial charge is completed, no further electrolyte service is ever required.

How do I activate an AGM MF battery before first use?

Activation takes only a few minutes. Fill each cell with the electrolyte from the supplied acid container up to the marked level, let the battery stand briefly so the plates absorb the liquid, then complete the initial charge with a suitable charger. After charging, close the caps firmly and the battery is ready to install.

Why is the acid volume shown in a separate column?

The acid figure tells you the exact electrolyte volume each model requires. Filling the correct amount matters because both underfilling and overfilling reduce capacity and service life. Using the supplied pack guarantees the right concentration and quantity, so the battery performs exactly as rated.

Is it safe to handle the acid pack during activation?

Yes, when basic precautions are followed. Wear gloves and eye protection, work in a ventilated area and always pour the acid into the battery cells, never the reverse. If any electrolyte touches skin, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water. Keep the pack away from children and sources of ignition.

How does an MF battery compare with a factory-activated SMF model?

Both use AGM construction, but the MF version ships dry, which extends shelf life and simplifies transport and storage. The trade-off is a one-time filling and initial charging procedure before use. A factory-activated SMF model arrives ready to install, which suits buyers who prefer zero setup on delivery.
